A pastel portrait "Daughter of Chief Seattle" by Texas Hill Country Artist Juli Koroly

"Princess Angeline"

My inspiration for this portrait was a fascinating lady who for years was seen walking the streets of Seattle. She was the oldest daughter of Chief Seattle and was know by and a favorite of the people of the  city. There remains a small collection of photos of her. I was able to study them and found her face so full of character that I could not resist painting it.

This piece was such a joy to paint! I put on my music and worked around it in the style of Jackson Pollock. I used several kinds of texture medium to give it a dimensional appearance.
