Bear's Teeth

This the first sketch of ARIKARA Indian medicine man named "Bear's Teeth" from a photo done by the famous photographer Edward Curtis. I find his fasinating. I have found a better copy of the bad photo I have and plan to do another. He suffered from small pox in his youth which left his face terribly scarred. He was only one of many who fell ill from the "whiteman's disease"

ode to Picasso

I have always been fascinated with Picasso's faces and his use of muli-views. We never see a person face in one plane, we all move as we speak but our brain is able to consolidate these views into a single image. I have done several sculptures examining this phenomenon.
This piece is a oil sketch entered into ipad and reworked.

ipad with still another new program . I love the
illustrating qualities of the color choices.

"Angelo Banana"

I continue to study the array of programs on my ipad and combine them in different ways with different sketches. This is a sketch of my grandson Angelo who I called "Angelo Banana" when he was young. He is, was and will always be in my heart.......He has grown into a handsome young man.

INSPIRATIONAL

This "Mother Teresa " was done in oil. I was looking at both and realized I have a tendency to use brighter color when I work on my pad. I enjoy both. I do like to compare the same subjects, different media. This lady is such a iconic figure, her humanity transcends organized religion.

A Hero

The last year I have been doing a project on heros. This is a recent Mother Theresa on my i-pad. I also did one in paint but I have had a problem importing it to this venue. I used several different programs in my pad, I love the different possibilities in the each.

SAWWHET

This a sketch done on my ipad for my "Animals and Birds of the Bible" that I am working on. It is a a saw-whet owl. They are my favorite of the small owls. I was given a great book by my daughter Marjorie as a reference. The book is "Scripture Animals, A natural history " The author was Jonathan Fisher. The book was published in 1833. The charming illustrations are etchings done by the author. The information though in some cases a bit out dated is fascinating. I am enjoying the study of my new subjects placement and importance as much as the actual painting.
