"Angelo Banana"
I continue to study the array of programs on my ipad and combine them in different ways with different sketches. This is a sketch of my grandson Angelo who I called "Angelo Banana" when he was young. He is, was and will always be in my heart.......He has grown into a handsome young man.

SAWWHET
This a sketch done on my ipad for my "Animals and Birds of the Bible" that I am working on. It is a a saw-whet owl. They are my favorite of the small owls. I was given a great book by my daughter Marjorie as a reference. The book is "Scripture Animals, A natural history " The author was Jonathan Fisher. The book was published in 1833. The charming illustrations are etchings done by the author. The information though in some cases a bit out dated is fascinating. I am enjoying the study of my new subjects placement and importance as much as the actual painting.

MAMA
This is my Mom. I did this from a photo that was taken at about the same year that the picture that I used for the portrait of my Dad was taken. I believe it was 1932. Mom was an interesting and complex person who kept her dreams close and never gave them up. She was a true creator designer and I loved her very much.

PAPA
Donald was my father. He was all the labels that I included and more. I did this portrait from a photo taken during the time he was in Medical school. I could have added many more labels but they would have obscured his face, though never his memory. As are we all, he was many things to many people to me he was Dad.
I just posted my 4th of July sketch. I am still learning the transfer process from my ipad to my blog. The curve is sharp and I am just on my way up the curve so forgive any obvious mistakes. Now as to the fourth.. On Sunday our church choir sang a medley of the anthems of each of the armed forces and asked members of each to stand as their song was being sung in order to be recognized. It was very moving to watch the variety of ages that proudly stood as we sang their song. As a congregation we stood and said the pledge to the flag. It meant more to all of us than a fireworks display. Over the years the meaning has been over shadowed by the picnics, vacations, hot dog eating contests, traffic reports, and the occasional flag being flown. I would bet my bottom dollar that those who stood and those who sang will not forget. Thank you to all who over the years have given their lives to protect this life we lead.
