Remember Me...

I still enjoy portraits a great deal. People are one of my favorite subjects. I do portraits free of charge for families with lost loved ones. This portrait is of a little girl who was scheduled to move permanently to the US with her adoptive family, but was killed 2 weeks prior in the January 12, 2010 earthquake. This was done for the to-be adoptive parents in remembrance.

Old Rugged Cross

This is another mixed media done with a palette knife and assorted acrylic mediums. It was inspired by the classic American hymn, "The Old Rugged Cross", written by George Bennard 1913.

1. On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
   The emblem of suff’ring and shame;
   And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
   For a world of lost sinners was slain.
   • Refrain:
     So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
     Till my trophies at last I lay down;
     I will cling to the old rugged cross,
     And exchange it some day for a crown.
2. Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
   Has a wondrous attraction for me;
   For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
   To bear it to dark Calvary.
3. In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
   A wondrous beauty I see,
   For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
   To pardon and sanctify me.
4. To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
   Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
   Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,
   Where His glory forever I’ll share.

Journey To Bethlehem

This music inspired collage is made up of everything from water colors, paper, tissue, pen & ink, and acrylic media.

The music which led me to create this work of art was from Joseph Martin's Christmas cantata "Journey to Bethlehem". I had the honor of performing this with the church choir for our local congregation, led in part by the composer himself.

Suffer the Little Children

Scriptural inspiration: Mark 10:14.

When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

I did this piece for my soon to be new granddaughter using strips of the fabric that was leftover from the quilt my best friend was making for her. In addition I used stencils, lettering, and acrylic. This piece is 6x6" but I subsequently remade it to 20x20" and it is now hanging in the babies room.

Call Him..

Mixed media done on cavaas with printing, acrylic and pen and ink.

Early Morning Thoughts

This piece was done on my I-pad with Wasabi. I particularly like this for getting a 3D look. I did this after meditating in the morning.

Consider the Ravens

It is a multimedia piece done on canvas with paper, different gel medias and acrylic paints.

This was inspired by reading Luke12:24. (Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!)

Here is an image from my 6yo granddaugter Virginia. She is gonna be hard to beat.

Back on-online

A lot has happened since I was on last. I had a trip with my girls last summer and had an epiphany about my work. I realized that I needed a direction and a purpose for my paintings. I have been experiencing in multimedia inspired by music, mostly Christian. This last couple years have been wrought with many personal family challenges which have honed my perspective on what is important in my life, to include my artistic life.
